community groups
On Sunday mornings most of our adults attend Community Groups during the hour that they do not worship. Some worship at 9:00 and then attend a Community Group at 10:15. (This group includes our middle and high school students as well as our Singles.) Others attend Community Group at 9:00 and then go to worship at 10:15. (All of our Senior Adults are in 9:00 groups.) Adult groups meet and worship during both morning hours.
Our Community Groups are designed for people to fellowship around the study of God’s Word: the Bible. Some groups have as few as ten attending and others may have as many as 30. Some groups are made up of couples and some are gender-specific. The leader of these groups is not a lecturer, but rather a facilitator. Our desire is for each person to have a chance to be a part of the learning experience. Those who attend read from one to as many as three chapters from the Bible during the week and consider questions about the text that they receive by email. The leader then guides the group through a discussion of those passages on Sunday morning. Like all teaching at Corryton, the emphasis is on making the Bible's timeless truth relevant to everyday life.
Reading cards that identify the lesson dates are available at the Welcome Center and at the Information Counter. Stop by the Welcome Center, the Information Counter, or the Get Connected station at the back of the worship area to find a group that is a good fit for you. Some of you will meet the best friend that you will ever have in one of our groups.
